If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything. The high road is always respected. Honesty and integrity are always rewarded. Integrity is telling myself the truth. And honesty is telling the truth to other people. Integrity gives you real freedom because you have nothing to fear since you have nothing to hide.

I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I am not bound to succeed, but I am bound to live up to what light I have. This above all; to thine own self be true. If it is not right do not do it; if it is not true do not say it. Try not to become a man of success, but a man of value. Look around at how people want to get more out of life than they put in.

Michelle Obama. There is only one worth in the earth and the sky, And that is an honest soul. There is one thing nobly worth while, Though the parrots chatter and scream, Though the critics howl and the cynics smile, And life seems a mocking dream.
There is one thing that grandly counts, In the face of the tempting glare, In the tempests of doubt on the lonely mounts, In the thickets of thorny care.
And that's to hold the truth! To abide with justice and right, To be a man in genuine sooth, With heaven's invincible might. There are bowers of beauty and love, There are trumpets of lordly fame, There are pleasures below and blessings above That flash with a lifting flame.
Let them flaunt their allurements high, Let them beckon and call and cajole; There is only one worth in the earth and the sky, And that is an honest soul. He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
Once there was a little boy, With curly hair and pleasant eye— A boy who always told the truth, And never, never told a lie. And when he trotted off to school, The children all about would cry, "There goes the curly-headed boy— The boy that never tells a lie. And everybody loved him so, Because he always told the truth, That every day, as he grew up, 'Twas said, "There goes the honest youth. Yesterday, Rebecca Mason, In the parlor by herself, Broke a handsome china basin, Placed upon the mantel-shelf. Quite alarmed, she thought of going Very quietly away, Not a single person knowing, Of her being there that day.
But Rebecca recollected She was taught deceit to shun; And the moment she reflected, Told her mother what was done. Who commended her behavior, Loved her better, and forgave her. I had a moment's talk with him And saw that he was good, A spirit candid to the brim, Breathing of brotherhood.

Here you will find four poems about honesty that you will not find anywhere else. Thank you for reading Shadow of Iris.
I sat right there, and I held your hand, and all that I needed to say I could have said. It was jumping through a series of hoops, each one, an expectation someone dreamed up in some hell that had nothing to do with me— and yet everyone thought I jumped so well. It was just a performance— But did anyone know that was not who I was?
Inside I was as frightened as a rabbit, there were so many things no one knew … When I got your first note, just the interest you showed in me— it terrified me.
Then before I knew it, we were holding hands, kissing in empty halls— and however strange it might have been this became the only thing at school that made any sense to me at all, however much I botched it at times. Honesty is overrated. Your dad, the one who was never around, had given you a car, and you were going to pick me up for lunch, if I had the time. I told myself I had to tell you everything— every last thing that I had pocketed away and hidden.
And even if it meant no more hand holding and no more furtive kisses, so what? It would still mean something, because it would be honest, and I owed that to you. What you needed was the truth from someone, but then once I was there, and once I was holding you hand it felt so good—like a drug, better than a drug, just to be sitting there next to you, feeling you next to me— I said nothing, and I was so, so far.
Everyone talks behind your back. Because you know what?
