Except of the "VT-x is not available" error in VirtualBox, the SecurAble tool also states that the Hardware Virtualization is not available on the system.
Save and exit BIOS settings. Try to start the VirtualBox machine. If you still face the same error, then proceed below. Click Turn Windows features on or off. Uncheck the Hyper-V feature and click OK. When the removal operation is completed, restart your computer.
After restart, open Command Prompt as Administrator.

After performing the requested operation, the error keeps popping up thus the proper configuration of the Virtual Machine is impossible. This seems to be just a trivial logical error when VirtualBox reviews the user settings. Steps to reproduce: Enter the BIOS in host machine and disable any hardware acceleration for virtual machines.
For example, Intel Virtualization Technology. In my case, a Windows 95 with the default options. The dialog reports an error stating the hardware acceleration capabilities are enabled even the host machine does not support it we disabled them in step 1. It seems the dialog isn't noticing we followed the error guidelines!

VirtualBox 6.When we describe VirtualBox as a "virtualization" product, we refer to "full virtualization", that is, the particular kind of virtualization that allows an unmodified operating system with all of its installed software to run in a special environment, on top of your existing operating system.
This environment, called a "virtual machine", is created by the virtualization software by intercepting access to certain hardware components and certain features. The physical computer is then usually called the "host", while the virtual machine is often called a "guest". Most of the guest code runs unmodified, directly on the host computer, and the guest operating system "thinks" it's running on real machine.
This approach, often called "native virtualization", is different from mere emulation. Instead, every single machine instruction is translated "emulated".
While emulators theoretically allow running code written for one type of hardware on completely different hardware say, running bit code on bit hardwarethey are typically quite slow.
Virtualizers such as VirtualBox, on the other hand, can achieve near-native performance for the guest code, but can only run guest code that was written for the same target hardware such as bit Linux on a bit Windows host.
There are several scenarios that make virtualization attractive: Operating system support. With a virtualizer such as VirtualBox, one can run software written for one operating system on another say, Windows software on Linux without having to reboot.

Infrastructure consolidation. Since the full performance of today's computers is rarely needed full-time, instead of running many such physical computers, one can "pack" many virtual machines onto a few powerful hosts and balance the loads between them. This can save a lot of hardware costs: e. VirtualBox is unique on the virtualization market in that it also allows for consolidating clients onto just a few RDP servers, with full client USB support, while "thin clients" only need to display RDP data.
Testing and disaster recovery. Especially with the use of snapshots?
If something goes wrong, one can easily switch back to a previous snapshot and avoid the need of frequent backups and restores. Download in other formats: Plain Text.Skip to main content. Many third-party virtualization applications do not work together with Hyper-V. These applications might not start virtual machines, or they may fall back to a slower, emulated mode.
These symptoms are introduced when the Hyper-V Hypervisor is running. Some security solutions are also dependent on the hypervisor, such as the following: Device Guard Credential Guard To determine whether the Hyper-V hypervisor is running, follow these steps: In the search box, type msinfo Select System Information.
In the detail window, locate the following entry: A hypervisor has been detected. Features required for Hyper-V will not be displayed. This behavior occurs by design. Many virtualization applications depend on hardware virtualization extensions that are available on most modern processors.
Only one software component can use this hardware at a time. The hardware cannot be shared between virtualization applications. To do this, use the following methods, as appropriate. Select Turn Windows features on or off.

I really don't know why this is happening if this is all suposed to be enabled and there arent documentations of similar issues. Turn off the core isolation security provided in the Windows Defender Security Centre. Steps to follow: 1. Go to Windows Defender Security Centre.
Search for Device Security in the left Panel and click on it.
Now click on core isolation. Turn off the memory intergrity security. If it didnt turn off and show This is managed by your device Administrator then follow the steps by searching on google. You may need to download a file and enter into registry to turn it Off. Just google it. This makes virtual box work on AMD machines but breaks Android emulator if you are using that. It's an old answer, but still quite accurate. But Android Emulator works perfectly on Intel even if you disable the hypervisorlaunchtype property.

It only takes a minute to sign up. So I am trying to run Ubuntu in a virtualbox but on installing By this we use hardware virtualization for optimal performance, and we would even be able to run a bit guest OS on a bit host for testing. This is because it was bit. I think the more than 3 GB is throwing it off.

My 'vmx' is coloured when running the command above and I've gone and enabled 'virtualisation' in the BIOS as well. After changing the bios setting to ON, don't just restart your computer, turn it off and then on! In my case 'vmx' was colored. So it seems checking terminal command suggested by Takkat isn't a confirmation that 'virtualisation' is enabled. KaushikAcharya: thank you for pointing this out. The terminal commands for CPU flags were suggested by an edit from another user.
I admit I had not tested them thoroughly - my bad. Nevertheless they are useful to see whether the CPU in our system does support virtualization at all. Anon Anon 61 1 1 silver badge 1 1 bronze badge. I had the same experience - despite the articles I was finding saying that the BIOS needs to be modified, the issue apparently lied in that I tried upping the memory for the virtual machine and it apparently was more than the bit system could handle.

If you have an older computer or if you are simply running software that is very demanding on graphics and system resources, you can improve the performance of your computer by reducing hardware acceleration or turning it off completely.
This option may not be available on newer computers, but can help get more life out of your aging computer. Spike Baron. Some programs need hardware acceleration.
Things like playing a DVD movie might need hardware acceleration to function correctly. The more in-demand the hardware, the more you want to increase the acceleration. Open the Control Panel.
