CSIO2 Thyristor 1. Stud thyristor; 1. The 2SC transistor was discontinued by Mitsubishi in and like so many devices of this type is now highly counterfeited, many of these Fakes and also refurbished parts used pulls are widely available on the market and can be purchased at cheap prices but many are of poor quality and in most cases do not even work - you have been warned!

The radio is wider that a Mini Magnum, but shorter from front to back. It is about the same size as the Mini Magnum turned sideways. Another outstanding feature is the large orange backlit display that not only displays the frequency, it will also display the channel number with band letter!
The unique looking woodgrain front panel is different from other units, and loaded with buttons and features that are normally found on more expensive radios. One thing that is evident is the molded chassis rear heat sink. The 6 pin microphone jack may be a negative because I could NOT find any 4 pin to 6 pin adapters that would work on this radio. The microphone audio was loud, clear, and may have worked a little better than the factory microphone!
However, after looking around, most of the parts that are usually serviced are standard replaceable components! The Alpha 10 uses a standard modulation transformer Cobra 29 transformer should work. The modulation limiter circuit is easily disabled by cutting a single trace which I would not recommend. The radio has very good audio and the RF power levels are within the spec. Powering up the Alpha 10 and keying up the mic shows about 10 watts on the meter. Talking into the mic shows about 14 watts on AM.
The microphone is small and resembles the design of many amateur radios on the market such as the Icom. Receive is excellent and the noise blanker circuitry is very good compared to most of the small inexpensive radios like Mini Mag and SS After talking to several stations and getting excellent signal reports on the audio, I decided to try FM mode. I found another station with FM and was surprised at how clear the audio was!
It made me wonder why we use AM in the US at all! In conclusion, The Alpha 10 is a great radio in a small package with more features than most expensive units! It should make quite an impact on the hunting season this fall!

I still have 20 of the thing's siting about here So what im asking is were can i get good replacement output transistor's Ive not long ordered some 2SC's from weazle66 for my Ranger AR so im hopeing they will work so i can finish the project off Looking down weazle66's feed back he's looking the man on transistor replacement's.
He's a very helpful chap too. Not the type you mention, but the review is excellent and I imagine this will apply to all variants of the transistor.
Never, ever, ever Far too many radio's to list here. But I do own a legal one I will send that radio over soon mate Eleflow don't have a replacement in production for that yet as far as I know. S1 E3. The website looks very basic and some of the datasheets look to be direct reprints of Mitsubishi material.
Maybe they have a better website in Chinese etc. To test them out properly as true equivalents would take weeks and weeks of formal testing and it's a shame Eleflow don't publish data like this themselves. But I guess if they appear to work in the right ballpark then they will be fine for fitting to 'safe' consumer items like CBs. So all my RF transistor trading will be with weazle66 as im get fed up with all the crap copy's out there. With that fixed, it was time to replace the IRF I scoured the usual places such as mouser.
My next stop was ebay. Surely this was the best deal.
Eleflow CB20W (2SC1969)
With the idle amperage at. The problem was that it would bump up to about. With very very small adjustments, I got it to pull just 1. The power draw slowly crept up past 2 amps, and if I let it go it would draw even more. While experimenting with it, it suddenly drew about 10 amps, and I heard a crackling sound and saw magic smoke rise from the board surrounding the IRF PA. Oh no! Thankfully only one trace was burned, and it was easy to repair with a bit of wire under the board.
I put in a new IRF and tried the procedure again. It was also very sensitive to adjustment, and was very quick to overheat. I installed another IRF at least I had a pack of 5, right? I began to suspect that they were not genuine, but counterfeit.
How could I prove it, though? Many folks responded. For the one on the right, it was said that it was fake because of the tinned leads, thin heat sink, the writing on it, and more. The one on the left was said to be fake because of lack of notches in the heat sink, the writing looked stamped instead of etched and some other more vague reasons. Out of 37 direct votes, 21 people chose the one on the left to be the genuine IRF, and 16 people chose the one on the right to be the real IRF It tuned right up and it was a breeze to set the bias as previously described.
It has since transmitted JT65 successfully, and does not overheat or draw excessive amperage. It truly is the genuine piece. Yes yes, okay. Here you go. How can you avoid getting a counterfeit fake, relabeled part? Stick with Mouser or Digikey or another retailer that you trust. Also: too good to be true IS too good to be true. In the mean time here are a couple of interesting links to articles and videos about fake semiconductors:. Fake Atmega Processors Sparkfun. Well I was wrong I admit it.
